Another good video Mark. the warm oceans are indeed the fuel for these intense storms but apparently there has been a lot of scientific papers lately linking solar storms as the catalyst that can turn tropical storms into cyclones and also intensify them. There was a level 4 solar storm a couple of days ago putting a lot of energy into the atmosphere. A lot of storms have also been historically linked including Katrina , Irma. Jose, Katia, Irma, Maria, Typhoon Haiyan and others. It's a bit beyond me but it' a geomagnetic electrical thing. They need to factor this into climate models as its bound to affect all weather instead of guesses based on CO2. With the warm oceans and solar maximum at the moment as you say there could be a lot of Hurricane's in 2024.

2 or 3 degrees warmer and it would be perfect. As long as it’s dry it’s not too bad. Hopefully you are right about warmer temperatures in second half of month.

As the summer gone for us in the mids, few days of heat and we're back to cold again and the dam winds. Does my heading.

We could do with a little bit more heat here in the UK. Where I am in the Midlands, it never got above 15 degrees centigrade today.

That's two crap summers in a row, only difference between the seasons now is the length of daylight.

I like how a week or so of heat after a below average first half of the month, can really skew the temperature anomalies. We’ve had a more significant *above average* anomaly of 6-9C above average, compared to the more persistent 1-4C below average

This June has felt very average for temperatures indeed, just as expected for June

I have already wondered if July would be a copy of June. Even if we do get some warmth it will be in the south east as I have already mentioned. I am feeling very sad about this. No summer potentially, even if August is a little better, the days are shorter and the sun is weak and we are racing in to Autumn. With all the cost of living crisis and other bad news, a good summer would have been most welcome. Unfortunately for me due to poor health, I am stuck with this very poor summer and going abroad is not an option.

Interesting it maybe but in reality it is absolutely diabolical this outlook. Hopefully the high pressure can win out and get in closer to us. We need some warmer and sunny weather to cheer us up.

And to think they harp on about global warming and an increasingly northerly shifted jet stream! If anything that jet is more often south shifted

absolutely abysmal Belfast today, once again, 13c today around 2PM !!!!! wind and rain....this is more like April! the forecast for at least the first half of July is depressive, colder than the average, loads of clouds and very little rain..what the hell??

Great update as always Mark. Thanks for the birthday wish. I will say just remember everyone it was only two years ago we had that prolonged hot dry summer. I think mark was right when he said couple of years ago the El Niño would possibly change things I think it could be a combination of the El Niño it then going towards La Niña and even more so the warm Atlantic. Also remember to forecasters yes don’t always get it right because I always say it and I’ll say it again remember a forecast means what it means what might happen not what will not to be taken too seriously just a case of always wait and see.

seems hardly worth watching Scots weather, just to sum it up year after year, 2/3 warm days with 10.days/ 2 weeks of cold wet and windy. [ Depressed ]

Will July bring more heat.

The models seem to be doubling down on a scandi trough with northern blocking for good measure. Not a welcone pattern after we've had one week of warm/hot weather since the beginning of June. Summer is taking it's time this year.

@05:20. Looks pretty bang on to me. I'm thinking July will start with westerlies and low pressure until around mid month (15th-17th). From there I'm thinking high pressure will build from the southwest and the second half of the month will be mainly blocked, with some decent heat.
